Civil Superintendent
Our high-growth business is seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to join our Construction team. This position will be reserved for a person who takes pride in their work and who is detail oriented and driven with strong leadership skills. Our core business is general contracting in the heavy civil construction industry. The company specializes in the following types of projects: Environmental & Civil Remediation, Replacement and Rehabilitation, Culvert Replacement and Rehabilitation, Earthwork including Excavation and Site Development, Retaining Walls & Erosion Control, Environmental Habitat Reconstruction, Demolition, and Decommissioning.
This position will play a key role in the organization’s ability to efficiently meet project deadlines and contribute to the organization’s total customer satisfaction effort.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Conduct daily huddles with crew to establish daily production goals and expectations.
- Read blueprints and job-related documents to properly plan work.
- Responsible for planning and scheduling materials, equipment and work for the crew.
- Record daily events in job log book.
- Adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Company Safety policies.
- Supervises construction workforce and oversees on-site construction activities to construct the project effectively, safely and within budget.
- Pro-actively train and mentor crew members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Work together with the larger project team to deliver the project successfully and to establish strategies.
- Understand job costing and forecasting costs to form a basis of decision on critical project tasks
- Coordinate with public project owners to comply with local agency and environmental issues and requirements.
- Demonstrate the company’s dedication to customer service and professionalism.
- Always wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years related experience in field crew management of civil / Excavation / Environmental construction operations.
- Knowledge of survey controls and grade checking
- Competency in reading civil construction plans.
- Thorough knowledge of concrete materials, workability, finishing, and curing.
- Thorough knowledge of concrete formwork systems and assembly.
- Experience working in and around environmentally sensitive areas including wetlands, streams, mature forests, and high-quality habitat.
- Valid “G” driver’s license.
- Ability to operate Heavy Equipment
- Able to work long days, flexible work hours and weekends.
